Rev. Michelle Renée Baylor is a graduate of Georgia Southwestern College, where she received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1994 and was licensed as a Registered Nurse that same year.  She has been a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated since 1992 (Nu Zeta Chapter). She also attended Wayne State University and completed her Bachelor Degree in Social Work in 2009 and Master Degree in Social Work in 2014. She has worked in several areas of nursing and her specialty is Geriatrics (Dementia and Hospice).

 

Michelle served in the United States Army from 1988-1992. She is a veteran and proudly served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

 

She accepted her call into ministry at Oak Grove AME Church in 2011 under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robert Brumfield. She was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in 2014 by Bishop John R. Bryant.  She was assigned to pastor, Immanuel Grace AME, Detroit, with her husband, Pastor Alfred E. Baylor, III in 2018 by Bishop John F. White.  She joins her husband, who was assigned as the pastor, as the 1st Lady of Bethel African Methodist Church by Bishop Frederick Alan Wright, Sr. at the 140th session of the Michigan Annual Conference on August 22, 2026.

 

Michelle is a native of Americus, Georgia. She is the wife of Rev. Alfred E. Baylor III, MD and the mother of three amazing daughters, Amber (Alvin), Ashley, and Alexis; and grandmother of seven: DaShari, Alvin, Alyssa, Zoey, Simone, Alfred & Ambrose.
